British actor Tom Wilkinson started his acting career in 1975 with multiple appearances in UK films and TV shows. He did not become familiar to an international audience until the late '90s when he starred in the UK indie hit The Full Monty (1997) in a role that would get him the BAFTA for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.
In 1998, Wilkinson appeared in Best Picture winner Shakespeare in Love, and two years later, he starred alongside Mel Gibson in The Patriot (2000). Wilkinson garnered plenty of award attention for his role in In the Bedroom (2001), where he received both Academy Award and BAFTA Award nominations.
Wilkinson has made notable appearances in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Batman Begins (2005), Valkyrie (2008) and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011). He has been nominated for Academy Awards, Primetime Emmys, BAFTAs and Golden Globes for his acting and continues to add films to his impressive resume.
Wilkinson has two children with his wife and fellow actress Diana Hardcastle.
