The man behind the first ever Hollywood Blockbuster, Steven Spielberg, has arguably the most successful filmography in the history of cinema. In 1975, Jaws broke box office records, and his follow up Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) was an award-winning and critical success.
Spielberg had success in the '80s with the Indiana Jones trilogy while also breaking audience's hearts with the children's classic E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982). Spielberg broke box office records again in 1993 with the release of Jurassic Park while Schindler's List won 7 Oscars that same year, including Best Picture and Best Director.
Since 2000, Speilberg has directed multiple blockbuster films, including A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001), Catch Me If You Can (2002), War of the Worlds (2005) and War Horse (2011). He received Oscar nominations for his remake of West Side Story (2021) and the semi-autobiographical drama The Fabelmans (2022).
