Canadian actress, Sheila McCarthy, began her career in TV movies and made her big screen debut in the award-winning Canadian film I've Heard the Mermaids Singing (1987). Three years later, she starred as the annoying news reporter who frustrates Bruce Willis' John McClane in Die Hard 2.
A year after her standout performance in the big blockbuster, she married her partner, Peter Donaldson. The couple went on to have two children. McCarthy received her second Genie Award for her role in the 1993 Canadian drama The Lotus Eaters, and later she appeared in the 2004 action film The Day After Tomorrow. In 2011 her husband, Peter Donaldson, lost his battle with cancer. McCarthy continues to act in film, TV and on stage, and her daughter Mackenzie Donaldson works as a producer in the film industry.
