Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp was born in 1963 and became one of the most well-known actors on the planet. His first acting role was in the low-budget horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), but he shot to stardom when he appeared in the popular TV series 21 Jump Street (1987).

In 1990, Depp starred in his first of many collaborations with Director Tim Burton in Edward Scissorhands (1990). This was a new direction for Depp's acting career, which saw him take darker and more niche roles in serious films. He starred in Burton's Ed Wood in 1994, and in 1997, he played an undercover FBI agent in the gangster drama Donnie Brasco.

Depp had leading roles in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998), Sleepy Hollow (1999) and From Hell (2001). His career saw a mainstream resurgence in 2003 when he starred as Jack Sparrow in the family blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) where he received his first of three Academy Award nominations in his career for his role as the charismatic pirate.

Depp continued to star in a mixture of blockbusters and quirky indie films, including Alice in Wonderland (2010), Dark Shadows (2012) and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016).
