James Roday

James David Rodríguez was born on April 4, 1976. Growing up in San Antonio, he attended Taft High School and later studied theater at New York University's Experimental Theatre Wing, where he earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts.

He has acted in several theatrical productions, which include "The Three Sisters," "Twelfth Night," "A Respectable Wedding," and "Severity's Mistress." Some of his first onscreen credits include the films Rolling Kansas (2003) and The Dukes of Hazzard (2005).

Roday's portrayal of Shawn Spencer on the television series Psych (2006-2014) launched him into the public spotlight. During and after his initial run as Shawn Spencer, he appeared in multiple films, including starring alongside Gerard Butler in Gamer (2009) and in 2016's Pushing Dead.
