Heather Matarazzo was born in New York and adopted as a baby. She made her feature film debut in Todd Solondz's Welcome to the Dollhouse (1995), where she won Best Debut Performance at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. In 1998, Matarazzo had a small role in the film 54, and two years later, she made her first appearance in the Scream horror franchise when she starred in Scream 3 (2000).
Matarazzo starred in The Princess Diaries (2001) and its sequel The Princess Diaries 2 (2004) as well as the comedy Sorority Boys (2002). In 2007, she starred in Eli Roth's horror film Hostel: Part II and in 2022, she made a return to the Scream horror franchise when she appeared in the reboot Scream (2022). She is married to fellow actor, writer and comedian Heather Turman.
