Giancarlo Esposito

Giancarlo Esposito was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1958. His father was an Italian stagehand and carpenter, and his mother was an African-American opera singer. Esposito moved to the United States with his family when he was six years old and grew up in Manhattan.

Esposito began his acting career in the early 1980s, appearing in a number of television shows, including Miami Vice and The Equalizer. He made his film debut in 1988 as Buggin Out in the Spike Lee film Do the Right Thing. After several roles throughout the 90s and 00s, Esposito found notoriety in the hit TV series Breaking Bad.

Since his Primetime Award nominated performance as Gus Fring, Esposito has gone onto star in Disney's The Mandalorian TV series, Amazon Prime's The Boys and Netflix's Breaking Bad spin off, Better Call Saul.

During his twenty year marriage to Joy McManigal, the couple had four children but subsequently divorced in 2015.
