Fiona Shaw began her showbiz career as a theatre actor, but her big feature debut came when she starred opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in the 1989 drama My Left Foot. She would go on to appear in big budget Hollywood films, including 3 Men and a Little Lady (1990) and Super Mario Bros (1993). In 1997, she starred in Bernard Rose's film adaptaion of Anna Karenina and in 2001, she made her first appearance as Aunt Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
As well as starring in five Harry Potter films, she also appeared in The Black Dahlia (2006), Catch and Release (2006) and Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life (2011). More recently, Shaw has appeared in hit TV shows Killing Eve and Fleabag. She has been nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards, BAFTAs and Irish Film & TV Awards. In 2018 she married Sri Lankan economist Sonali Deraniyagala.
