Eddie Izzard

Eddie Izzard grew in popularity in the '80s and '90s due to her award-winning standup comedy performances, including at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In 1993 she received a nomination for a Laurence Olivier Award for the comedy special Eddie Izzard: Live at the Ambassadors (1993).

In 1996, she debuted on the big screen alongside Bob Hoskins and Robin Williams in The Secret Agent. Two years later, she released Dress to Kill, an Emmy award-winning standup comedy show recorded in San Francisco, USA. Izzard acted in Todd Haynes' Velvet Goldmine and, in 1999, she appeared opposite Ben Stiller in Mystery Men.

Izzard made multiple appearances in films during the noughties, including Ocean's Twelve (2004), Romance & Cigarettes (2005) and Valkyrie (2008). She also continued to tour as a standup comedian and made appearances in TV shows, including The Riches (2007) and Stay Close (2021). Izzard has previously labelled herself as a transvestite, and in 2020, she changed her pronouns to she/her.
