New York City born actor, writer and director Desiree Akhavan is a shining light in the contemporary female filmmaker movement with a diverse representation in her work, including stories which cover LGBTQ+ and multi-cultural characters. After her directorial debut Appropriate Behaviour (2014),she has gone on to star in and direct multiple films and TV series.
Akhavan created and starred in the TV series The Bisexual (2018) and the 2017 horror film Creep 2. Shifting to a behind-the-scenes role, she has directed episodes of Showtime's I Love That for You (2022) and HULU's Tiny Beautiful Things (2023).
