Malte is an 11-year-old who likes to be alone and think up complex strategies and game theories in his bedroom. When he finds himself thrust into a playground squabble between two child groups, he puts his theories into practice. But his complex strategies turn a small argument between kids into an all-out conflict with serious repercussions. Award-winning Bosnian film director, Goran Kapetanović, plays out the art of war from a child's perspective in The War Game. The clever storytelling with themes of human nature, power and morality blended with the colorful and playful style akin to a Wes Anderson film makes this a quirky yet thought-provoking indie drama.
