After a canceled tour, flailing musician and former drug addict Jesse Lirette (Arron Shiver) hits the road for a different kind of journey. He seeks out Anne, an old flame living in a small town in Northern New Mexico, and hopes to rekindle their lost love.
Jesse finds Director Cheryl Nichols' Anne just as lost as him, working in a small bar in the middle of nowhere. When an arrogant attempt at inserting himself back into her life fails, he must confront the mistakes of his past on his own.
Cortez is a lighthearted character drama with rooted, affecting performances from its leads and beautiful Western-influenced cinematography. Winner of the Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature at Atlanta Film Festival and a selection at the Slamdance Film Festival makes this indie film a must-see.
